Moon Images - March and April 2014
Standard Good +/- Best Favorite
The following images were taken at the 18th of April. The Moon was waning at an age of 19.2 days with an illumination of 84.9%. The libration was very favorable for the region around Schickard at the southwestern limb (see images of Moretus, Newton, Drygalski and Hausen).

The images from this day belong to the best images ever taken with the C14. The resolution should be slightly better than 1 km at the ground.

The images around Gardner and Cauchy rille show many examples of lunar domes. The crater Theophilus claerly shows different rock stratums in the central mountains.


All images was taken at the prime focus of the C14 SC using a Celestron SkyRis 445 M webcam together with a Baader IR Passfilter. Stacking each 144/1.200 frames with AviStack 1.8. Click on the thumbnails to view large images, these are load in a separate browser window.
 

 
The 4-frame mosaic (image before last) shows the three huge crater Theophilus, Cyrillus, Catharina as well as the region from Rupes Altai to the crater Rabbi Levi. It is the image with the highest resolution of this area within our work.
