Test images taken with our 12.5" PlaneWave Astrograph

In spring 2016 we started operating a 12.5" Planewave astrograph in the 3m chameleon dome. The 11" Celestron HyperStar telescope mounted there until then was moved to the transportable mount outside the dome.

In the last two years we have been able to take many beautiful DeepSky pictures with the PlaneWave telescope. After a collimation test, which was done with a video module, we took some test images of the moon. The telescope has a focal length of 2.540mm (f/8) at 314mm aperture.

All raw avi files were exposed in primary focus with a Celestron video module SkyRis 445M and a Baader IR passt filter for calming the seeing conditions 18 September at 22 o'clock UT. 144 of 1,500 raw images were stacked.

Despite the large obstruction caused by the secondary mirror, we find the picture results extremely convincing. All pictures can be enlarged by clicking on the thumbnail.
