Moon Images - March and April 2014

The following images were
taken at the 10th of April. The Moon was waxing at an age of 10.9 days with an
illumination of 79.7%. The libration was favorable for the region around the
Northpole, see the image "Nordpol-libration". The huge craters Meton and
Goldschmidt could be imaged in high resolution.

All
images were taken at the prime focus of the C14 SC using a Celestron SkyRis 445
M webcam together with a Baader IR Passfilter. Stacking each 144/1.200 frames
with AviStack 1.8. Click on the

The mosaic
images around Copernicus shows a great number of lunar volcanism features, such
as effusive lunar domes near Hortensius and Milichius. Last image shows (in the
upper left corner) the intrusive lunar feature "The Helmet". The helmet is an
inofficial name and was inspired by the science fiction Star Wars
saga. |
