IC 4603 and IC 4604 - the Rho Ophiuchus nebula region
Die Rho-Ophiuchus Region, knapp nördlich von Antares im Sternbild Skorpion, ist eine Dunkelwolke im Sternbild Sternbild Schlangenträger. Mit einer Entfernung von etwa 500 Lichtjahren ist es eine - dem Sonnensystem - nahegelegenden Sternentstehungsgebiete.
Sie beinhaltet die 3 blauen Reflexionsnebel IC 4603, 4604 und 4605 Sie besteht aus zwei großen Regionen aus dichtem Gas und Staub. Die erste Region umfasst das Sternentstehungsgebiet L1688 und die zweite Region ist als Sternentstehungsgebiet L1689 katalogisiert. Insgesamt sind es geschätzte 3.000 Sonnenmassen.
In der Rho Ophiuchus Dunkelwolke wurden 425 Infrarotquellen gefunden, von denen Astronomen vermuten, dass es sich um Protosterne mit einem Alter von 100.000 bis 1.000.000 Jahre handelt.
Object description
The Rho Ophiuchus region, just north of Antares in the constellation Scorpio, is a dark cloud in the constellation Serpent Bearer. At a distance of about 500 light years, it is one of the closest star-forming regions - to the solar system. It contains the 3 blue reflection nebulae IC 4603, 4604 and 4605.
It consists of two large regions of dense gas and dust. The first region comprises star forming region L1688 and the second region is catalogued as star forming region L1689. In total, there are an estimated 3,000 solar masses.
In the Rho Ophiuchus dark cloud, 425 infrared sources have been found, which astronomers suspect are protostars with an age of 100,000 to 1,000,000 years.
