IC 2944 and IC 2948 - H-II emission in the constellation of Centaurus
IC 2944 und IC 2948 - Unser Bild zeigt eine widefield Ansicht, zentriert auf den hellen Stern lambda Centauri in Bildmitte. Die H-II Region um lambda ist IC 2944, die helle Region daruter ist IC 1948. Die beiden H-II Regionen westlich von lambda Centauris sind oben RCW 60 und darunter RCW 61. Nördlich von lambda Centauris steht der helle offene Sternhaufen NGC 3766, westlich IC 2714 und in Bildmitte am linken Bildrand NGC 4052.
Weitere Bilder von uns der Region um IC 2944 und NGC 2948 zeigen wir hier. Ein Mosaik aus zwei Segmenten, die gleiche Region, aufgenommen mit Schmalbandfiltern und hoch aufgelöst den Kernbereich mit den Thackeray Globulen.
Object description
IC 2944 and IC 2948 - Our image shows a widefield view centered on the bright star lambda Centauri in the center of the image. The H-II region around lambda is IC 2944, the bright region below is IC 1948. The two H-II regions west of lambda Centauris are RCW 60 above and RCW 61 below. North of lambda Centauris is the bright open cluster NGC 3766, west IC 2714 and in the center of the image at the left border NGC 4052.
