RCW 38, GN 09.07.3 and NGC 2736 - subregions in the Gum supernova remnant in the constellation Vela
GN 09.07.3 - Etwas oberhalb der Bildmitte in unserer widefield Ansicht liegt die H-II Region GN 09.07.3. Am oberen Bildrand zeigt sich eine kleinere, etwas hellere H-II Region, die als RCW 38 katalogisiert ist. Am unteren Bildrand findet sich NGC 2736, Herschels berühmter "Bleistiftnebel" von dem wir hier ein hoch aufgelöstes Bild mit ausführlicher Beschreibung zeigen. Alle drei Objekte gehören zum großen Vela Supernovaüberrest.

description GN 09.07.3 - Just above the center of the image in our widefield view is the H-II region GN 09.07.3. At the top of the image is a smaller, somewhat brighter H-II region cataloged as RCW 38. At the bottom of the image is NGC 2736, Herschel's famous "Pencil Nebula" of which we show here a high resolution image with detailed description.
