RCW 32 - Star formation in the constellation Vela
RCW 32 und Collinder 197- Unser Bild zeigt die Sternentstehungsregion RCW 32 (GUM 15) im Sternbild Vela, bestehend aus Wasserstoffemission (rot), Reflexion (blau) und Dunkelnebel. Die H-II Region liegt etwa 3.000 Lichtjahre vom Sonnensystem entfernt und gehört vermutlich der zur Vela OB1-Assoziation. Der helle Stern im Nebelzentrum ist der Doppelstern HD 74 804, er hat eine Helligkeit der 9.3 Größenklasse und die Spektralklasse B3 und ist vermutlich für die Ionisation der H-II Region verantwortlich. Es ist das hellste Mitglied des Sternhaufens Collinder 197. Der helle Stern, links oben im Bild, ist HD 75 081 mit der Spektralklasse B9V und einer Helligkeit der 6.2 Größenklasse. Object description
RCW 32 and Collinder 197 - Our image shows the star-forming region RCW 32 (GUM 15) in the constellation Vela, consisting of hydrogen emission (red), reflection (blue) and dark nebula. The H-II region lies about 3,000 light-years from the solar system and is believed to belong to the Vela OB1 association. The bright star in the nebula center is the double star HD 74 804, it has a magnitude 9.3 brightness and spectral class B3 and is probably responsible for the ionization of the H-II region. It is the brightest member of the star cluster Collinder 197. The bright star, in the upper left of the image, is HD 75 081 with spectral class B9V and a magnitude 6.2 brightness. The coordinates of the image center are: RA 08h 45m 00s - DE - 41 18 00
