Objektbeschreibung: Messier 17 - Unser Bild zeigt eine detaillierte Ansicht von Messier 17 (NGC 6618) - dem Omeganebel im Stenbild Schütze. Weitere populäre Namen sind auch Schwanen- oder Hufeisennebel. Die H-II Region ist ein Gebiet intensiver Sternentstehung, durch die Strahlung der im Inneren liegenden jungen Sterne wird er zum Leuchten angeregt und erscheint in roten, rosa und bläulichen Farbtönen. Messier 17 liegt etwa 5.500 bis 6.000 Lichtjahre vom Sonnensystem entfernt, die Gesamtmasse wird auf 800 Sonnenmassen geschätzt. Object description Messier 17 - Our image shows a detailed view of Messier 17 (NGC 6618) - the Omega Nebula in Sagittarius. Other popular names are also Swan Nebula or Horseshoe Nebula. The H-II region is an area of intense star formation, by the radiation of the young stars lying inside it is excited to glow and appears in red, pink and bluish hues. Messier 17 lies about 5,500 to 6,000 light-years from the solar system, and its total mass is estimated at 800 solar masses.
