RCW 110 und RCW 111
Südwestlich der offenen Sternhaufen NGC 6249 und NGC 6259 im Sternbild Skorpion befindet sich ein kleineres H-II Emissionsnebelgebiet, das als RCW 111 oder auch GUM 54 katalogisiert ist. Die Region liegt in einer Entfernung von etwa 7.500 Lichtjahre vom Sonnensystem entfernt. Der hellere zentralere Teil ist RCW 110 NW. Links oben im Bild ist der offene Sternhaufen NGC 6249 zu sehen. .
Object description
RCW 110 und RCW 111
Southwest of the open star clusters NGC 6249 and NGC 6259 in the constellation Scorpio is a smaller H-II emission nebula region cataloged as RCW 111 or also GUM 54. The region lies at a distance of about 7,500 light-years from the solar system. The brighter more central part is RCW 110 NW. In the upper left of the image the open star cluster NGC 6249 can be seen.
