Objektbeschreibung:

CED 106 A und Collinder 197 Unser Bild zeigt die Sternentstehungsregion CED 106 A, auch als GUM 15 katalogisiert im Sternbild Vela (Segel des Schiffs). Im Zentrum von GUM 15 steht der noch sehr junge offene Sternhaufen Collinder 197 mit seinem hellsten Stern HD 74804. Die H-II Region liegt etwas 3.000 Lichtjahre vom Sonnensystem entfernt.

Teile weiterer ausgedehnter H-II Regionen sind RCW 33 (links unten im Bild) und RCW 27 (rechts oben im Bild). Der offene Sternhaufen am oberen Bildrand ist NGC 2671. Er beinhaltet etwa 40 Sterne und wird nach Trumpler der Klasse I 3 p zugeordnet. Mit einer Entfernung von ungefähr 5.400 Lichtjahren liegt er weit hinter den H-II Regionen im Sternbild Vela. Er wurde am 1. Mai 1826 von James Dunlop entdeckt.

Object description

CED 106 A und Collinder 197 Our image shows the star forming region CED 106 A, also cataloged as GUM 15 in the constellation Vela (sail of the ship). In the center of GUM 15 is the very young open star cluster Collinder 197 with its brightest star HD 74804. The H-II region lies about 3,000 light-years from the solar system. Parts of further extended H-II regions are RCW 33 (lower left in the image) and RCW 27 (upper right in the image. The open cluster at the top of the image is NGC 2671, which contains about 40 stars and is classified as class I 3 p by Trumpler. With a distance of about 5,400 light-years it lies far behind the H-II regions in the constellation Vela. It was discovered by James Dunlop on May 1, 1826.
