NGC 3532 and NGC 3293—two open star clusters in the Eta Carina complex
NGC 3532 und NGC 3293 - sind 2 hellere offen Sternhaufen im Sternbild Carina. Sie flankieren den große Eta Carina H-II Komplex-NGC 3372. Östlich (links im Bild) davon liegt NGC 3532. Er ist "nur 1.500 Lichtjahre vom Sonnensystem entfernt und enthält ehr als 200 Sterne, die etwa 300 Millionen Jahre alt sind. Er wurde vom französischen Astronomen Nicolas Louis de Lacaille im Jahr 1751 erstmalig beschrieben.
NGC 3293 ist ein sehr junger Sternhaufen und ist etwa 8.000 Lichtjahre vom Sonnensystem entfernt und gehört somit zum Eta Carina Komplex NGC 3372. Er beinhaltet etwa 50 Sterne, die weniger als 10 Millionen Jahre alt sind. Er wurde ebenfalls im Jahr 1751 vom französischen Astronomen Nicolas Louis de Lacaille erstmalig beschrieben.
Object description
NGC 3532 and NGC 3293 - are two brighter open star clusters in the constellation Carina. They flank the large Eta Carina H-II complex-NGC 3372. To the east (on the left in the image) of it lies NGC 3532. It is "only 1,500 light-years away from the solar system and contains more than 200 stars that are about 300 million years old. It was first described by the French astronomer Nicolas Louis de Lacaille in 1751.
NGC 3293 is a very young star cluster located about 8,000 light-years from the solar system and is therefore part of the Eta Carina complex NGC 3372. It contains about 50 stars that are less than 10 million years old. It was also first described in 1751 by the French astronomer Nicolas Louis de Lacaille.
