Antares and the rho Ophiuchus nebula region
Antares und rho ophiuchus - Unser Bild zeigt ein Mosaik aus 2 Segmenten der Antares Nebelregion. Im unteren Bildbereich dominiert der Stern Antares und beleuchtet einen der seltenen gelben Reflexionsnebel. Rechts daneben ist der Kugelsternhaufen Messier 4 zu finden.
In der oberen Bildhälfte leuchten die blauen Reflexionsnebel IC 4603 und LBN 1111. In der oberen linken Bildhälfte liegen die dunklen Molekühlwolken in deren Tiefe aktive Sternentstehung stattfindet. Ein großes Mosaik der kompletten Region, bestehend aus insgesamt 15 Segmenten, zeigen wir hier.
Object description
Antares and rho ophiuchus - Our image shows a mosaic of 2 segments of the Antares nebula region. In the lower part of the image the star Antares dominates and illuminates one of the rare yellow reflection nebulae. To the right is the globular cluster Messier 4.
In the upper half of the image the blue reflection nebulae IC 4603 and LBN 1111 are shining. In the upper left half of the image are the dark molecular clouds in whose depth active star formation takes place. A large mosaic of the complete region, consisting of 15 segments, is shown here.
