Messier 23, 24 and 25 - a chain of star clusters and the Sagittarius Star Cloud
Messier 23, 24 und 25 - Unser Bild zeigt die Kette von 3 offenen Sternhaufen Messier 23, 24 und 25. In Bildmitte liegt die so genannte kleine Sagittarius Sternwolke, die wir hier näher beschreiben. Das Bild ist ein Mosaik bestehen aus 3 einzelnen Segmenten.
Der mit 10.000 Lichtjahren am weitesten entfernte Sternhaufen ist Messier 24 (Details dazu siehe hier). Messier 23 ist etwa 2.000 Lichtjahre entfernt und wird nach Trumpler der Klasse III 1 m zugeordnet. Messier 25 hat eine ähnliche Entfernung wie M 23 zum Sonnensystem und wird nach Trumpler der Klasse I 2 p zugeordnet.
Object description
Messier 23, 24 and 25- Our image shows the chain of 3 open star clusters Messier 23, 24 and 25. In the center of the image lies the so called small Sagittarius star cloud, which we describe here in more detail. The image is a mosaic consisting of 3 single segments.
The most distant star cluster with 10,000 lightyears is Messier 24 (details see here). Messier 23 is about 2,000 light-years away and is assigned to class III 1 m according to Trumpler. Messier 25 has a similar distance as M 23 to the solar system and is assigned to class I 2 p according to Trumpler.
