NGC 6134, NGC 6167 and Hogg 19 - open star clusters in the
Ara/Norma constellation |

Object description:
NGC 6167 is an
open star cluster in the constellation Protractor (Norma) at the border to the
constellation Altar (Ara). With an apparent diameter of 7 arcminutes it is
cataloged as type II 3 m according to Trumpler.
NGC 6167 is located at a distance of about 3600 light years from the solar
system and discovered on May 10, 1826 by James Dunlop. Dunlop was a Scottish
astronomer who made his observations from Australia. |

NGC 6134 is also an open star
cluster in the constellation Protractor (Norma). Like NGC 6167 NGC 6134 has an
apparent diameter of 7 arcminutes it is also cataloged as type II 3 m according to Trumpler. The cluster is with
about 3000 lightyears a little bit closer to the solar system and was
discovered in the same night as NGC 6167 by James Dunlop.
